Todo, I think we're still in Kansas...

Greetings to all the hairy and hairless!

Waking up to Frazier Park and Bentwood Golf Course getting ready to throw their golf tournament, it seemed that Kansas would be treating us well from the start. Morning yoga was sparse due to the amount of mosquitoes and their needle faces attacking us whenever you had a still piece of fleshy skin available. However, we managed to get up and prepare for our ride quite quickly due to the pestering nuisances.
Just before leaving we stopped in at the Bentwood Pro Shop for some morning coffee. We told the people hosting the tournament about our goal and journey and Ray Velasquez was kind enough to donate $50 to the Arthritis Foundation! Thanks a bunch Ray!!! Then upon leaving, we were handed a box of tootsie rolls and some donuts...You can never go wrong with a box of free tootsie rolls!
We cruised the straight fiddy' miles to Montezuma pretty easily with a weird substance in the sky blotting out the sun for 4/5's of the ride! That substance was later determined as cloud cover... We had no idea that clouds still blotted out the sun at different spots in the world...
Once in Montezuma we got some of the best news three touring cyclists could hear. CENTENNIAL DAY! Montezuma just so happened to be celebrating their 100th year as a town! We were delighted to hear that there was free lunch at the park consisting of hot dogs and burgers. More delighted to see on the schedule free swimming at the pool.  Ecstatic to see that there was a free dinner at the Bethel house of more burgers and hot dogs (not to mention the delicious home made ice cream thanks to Tim and his wife)! What a great day to just so happen to roll into town looking for a place to stay!
We would like to give a shout out to Tim Erickson, the pastor of the Morningside Church! Thanks a bunch for allowing us smelly bikers into a safe haven in your town! We got to do our laundry, take showers, and also make some amazing basketball shots in that church! Along with the pastor, thanks to Wendy for giving him a call on your phone so we could chat with him!

When I wake up I get the morning sun
 Nate looking like Captain America
 Free dinner line in Montezuma
The party is all here and there comes the rain
Nate biking directly into the storm after dinner
Loving the first rain and life
Wind turbines pulling up the sun
Just a mess of pinwheels. This stretched on for a quarter mile

I've just realized that putting all the shout outs in this post about just the people we met in Montezuma would be ridiculous! We met such good people, and all of them enjoying the life and sense of community that they thrive in! We appreciate everyone and their kindness, we know we looked like outsiders, because we were, but all of you talked to us with open minds and a politeness your mother would be proud of! Just a huge shout out to the entire town of Montezuma! Your community is wonderful Mayor Chester (we met him personally)!
As our name allots, at times, we do bring rain... Two places who haven't seen rain in weeks got the chance to have some drops of life fall down while we were there! In Montezuma, right after we got back from free dinner, the rain and hail started a flyin'! Nate did some dancing in the rain himself, as we hope the town of Montezuma did too!
Today started off in the same manor as yesterday. That weird moisture substance in the sky was looming over the pink/red/orange sunrise as we began our morning pedaling. There was a crosswind and even though it didn't feel like it was helping much, it did its part. On the other hand, it was a very, very slow morning. With us riding 50 miles the day before, then joining a centennial festival, we were just pooped out! From all the free food we ate, to the diving board and water basketball in the pool, and the more free food we ate the day before... It just made today that much harder!
Never fear though, with our destination Greensburg, Kansas and our route basically telling us we would, eventually, for 20 miles have a headwind, we had the worst on our minds... A great tactic, because when what thought was to be a headwind, only was for about 3 miles! After that the gracious wind pushed us all the way into Greensburg!
We've heard so much, from everyone, about how cool of a stop Greensburg would be. Not to say that Greensburg, upon arrival, isn't all its hyped up to be... It just so happens that we've arrived on a Sunday! With nothing really open we strolled through town checking out all the "green" architecture after the tornado that hit here in 2007. We then came upon a Family Dollar where we bought some provisions to last us until Wichita! The great employees of Family Dollar pointed us in the direction of free camping at the lake!! Free camping at the lake.... OF COURSE!
With lake in mind, we set sail to what we thought would be our destination. Little did we know, we were soon to find an even better destination! Since the goal of our trip is to raise awareness and donations, we figure that we should talk to as many people as possible and tell our story. So when rolling past a church, and with our past luck with churches, we'd figure we would stop in and spread awareness. And who knows, maybe get another cool basement to stay in!
Well golly-gee! There wasn't to many cars in the parking lot as we rolled past the Menonite church here in Greensburg, but that didn't stop our awareness raising attitudes! We put on our Sunday "finest" and opened the doors to find some great people! Ted is the pastor of the church and he has allowed us to stay here in the basement just as we had dreamed! Another cool basement... Life is looking up for us touring cyclists! So a big shout out to the church here and especially the pastor Ted and his wife Laurie! Thanks so much for your kindness!
Nate and Matt just took the classic three hour nap, and Nate has a special dream to share with all of you!
I started dosing off, everything went black, and than I woke into the dream. I came to this house,I've had dreams involving this house before. It is a country house, old victorian style with a front porch. There is grassy fields surrounding the house and a light blue sky with a slight over cast. We walked into the house and were immediately submerged into the darkness with only candle light shining through. A man was standing in the hallway, a tall burly man. He told us we had to drop our bags and empty them out. Around this time I lost my companion that I entered the house with. As the man searches through my bag he stumbles across a particular item that we had been looking for in real life. He looks at me as he tossed it to the floor and said don't worry you'll find it later. He allowed me entrance after the search. Passing through corridors and rooms that were more labyrinth like than a house. If you've seen the movie Inception, you'll understand I had the POWER! I realized I was in a dream and started playing with the layout of the house moving walls, lifting floors, opening walls and started floating around instead of walking. I removed the outer wall and built a wrap around porch. Floating around shifting the shape of the house is as far as I can tell you of the dream because after that it gets a little inappropriate for some. But yeah I thought that it was an awesome dream. I found something that we had lost via this dream, and this was one of the first times that I had a lucid dream. Thought you all should know.
   As always, tell Nick...
